Project Overview

We are upgrading the waste water network in the Raploch area of Stirling to help manage heavy rainfall, protect the community from flooding and improve the water environment.

The work is part of our £500m Improving Urban Waters programme.

Two projects, totalling £6.2m, at Woodside Road and Laurencroft Road, are expected to be completed by December 2026.

The projects in the Raploch area will help to reduce the chance of sewer related debris from entering the River Forth

What We Are Doing

We are replacing existing storm overflows and upsizing the associated sewer pipework and manhole chambers at both Woodside Road and Laurencecroft Road in Stirling.

  • Work at Woodside Road began on Monday 20 October 2025, with an expected completion by autumn 2026. A section of footpath at Woodside Road will be closed during the works with a signed diversion in place.
  • Work at Laurencecroft Road is scheduled to begin in January 2026 and is expected to be completed with a year. A section of the cycle path route will be closed with a signed diversion in place.

Our site compound will be set up in between the two streets at Ochil Crescent for the duration of the works.

Why We Are Doing It

Working closely with the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) Scottish Water identified priority storm overflows for improvement or replacement.

Under the banner ‘Draining the Rain, Enhancing the Environment’ the Improving Urban Waters investment will help reduce spills and prevent sewage related debris such as wet wipes from entering the environment during periods of rainfall.
