At this location:
We are updating a storm overflow and associated pipework.
There is a history of localised flooding during extreme weather. The overflow will safely divert excess storm water protecting homes and businesses.
The project is part of our £500million Improving Urban Waters investment programme.
Upgrade

Update December 2025
Work on High Street has been completed and all traffic management has been removed.
Progress to upgrade the storm overflow on Bridgend at the bottom of Springwell Place has been good and we are close to completing. The site will be made safe and secure over the holiday period with work resuming in January 2026.
We are doing all that we can to minimise any disruption and would like to thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding while we deliver this important project.
