Essential sewer investigation works in Edinburgh City Centre

We will shortly be carrying out essential investigation work on our sewer network, resulting in temporary road closures to a number of locations.

The work will commence on Monday 17th June and last approximately three weeks.

On Monday 17th June, the first phase will begin, which includes the overnight road closure (20:00hrs to 06:00hrs) on Leith Street, and Calton Hill for 2 nights.

On Wednesday 19th June, there will be an overnight road closure (20:00hrs to 06:00hrs), on Waterloo Place for 1 night.

From Thursday 20th June there will be a lane closure on Calton Road, managed by temporary traffic lights for an estimated 2 weeks.

There may be a requirement to call at properties on Waterloo Place to dye test their waste pipe to confirm a connection into the sewer. The teams involved will always have identification confirming who they are.

We urge road users to follow all directional signage in place and allow extra time for journeys.

During the work, there may be some noise from construction equipment, but steps will be taken to minimise as much disruption as possible.

Local residents can continue to use their water supply and drainage services as normal, which should not be affected by the work.

We would like to thank residents and road users for their patience and understanding while the essential work is undertaken.

The work will be carried out by our contractor, MacKenzie Construction.
