Sewer Repairs at Trinity Road Edinburgh

Project Overview

We are carrying out emergency repairs on a collapsed sewer on Trinity Road in Edinburgh.

In order for this work to be carried out safely, a road closure has been put in place at Trinity Road between Primrose Bank Road and Lennox Row, with a traffic diversion route available via Lomond Road.

Over pumping has been put in place to ensure the community's waste water service remain unaffected during this time, while the sewer repair work was escalated to our project delivery team based on the complexities involved in this repair.  The project team are currently on site with work underway to repair the damaged sewer.

Latest Project Update

As mentioned above, our project delivery team are currently on site working to repair the damaged section of sewer at Trinity Road.

Unfortunately, our investigations have revealed another defect on the sewer in the middle of the junction with Lennox Row.

The current road closure is therefore in the process of being extended to include this area to allow work to be carried out safely but also to prevent any further damage to the underground pipes and utilities.

An early indication at this stage suggests it could be up to four months as of 28th August.

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and CCTV surveys have been carried out to identify the location of other services, the presence of voids and the general condition of the sewer.

We have also been working closely with Scottish Power and SGN to decide how best to safeguard or divert their assets.

Over the next few weeks, the project team will review the results of these surveys to fully understand the extent of the required repairs and how long they will take.

We have issued the below letters to keep the community informed of our work, while our team on site will continue to liaise directly with local residents to ensure impact of the project is minimised where possible.

Weekend work will also be carried out where possible to speed up repairs.
