Hope Street Sewer Repair

Down to One Lane
Hope Street is reduced to one lane between West George Street and West Regent Street
Hope Street in Glasgow City Centre has been reduced to one lane to allow us to carry out an essential sewer repair.
Traffic management is in place between West George Street and West Regent Street. West Regent Lane is closed to all vehicles between Renfield Street and Hope Street.
Work started on Monday 6 January 2025 and is expected to last approximately eight weeks.

A phased lane reduction starts at the St Vincent Street junction

Local businesses are open as usual
Update February 2025
After an initial CCTV survey when the works begin in January, we identified issues affecting a second property and also the main sewer itself.
The repair to one property has been completed and we are now relining the main sewer pipe under the current traffic management arrangement. Further work is also required to address the original internal flooding problem, and these repairs are ongoing.
We are also going to bring forward a further repair project that was originally planned for later this year to avoid future disruption in the city centre in the months ahead.
Once we have completed the current repairs between West George Street and West Regent Street we will ‘flip’ the traffic management, reducing Hope Street to one lane between Bath Street and West Regent Street.
If there are no unforeseen circumstances we anticipate completing all works by the beginning of April 2025.
We are extremely grateful for the patience and understanding shown by road users and customers while these essential works are carried out.
