Bearsden Sewer Upgrade

We are upgrading the sewer network next to Conon Avenue in Bearsden, Glasgow.

What We Are Doing

On Monday 26th August we will begin with preparatory works for approximately 3 weeks. No traffic management will be in place during this time and access to properties and footpaths will be maintained.

Following this, we will be replacing an 80 metre section of the sewer within the parkland adjacent to Conon Avenue/Annan Drive.

To accomplish this, we will carry out permeation grouting to reduce water ingress prior to installing sheet piles to enable us to build two new chambers.

Sheets will be installed one-by-one, using a hydraulic press (a vibration-less system) to carefully push them into the ground. The decision was taken to use this method to minimise noise and vibration as much as possible.

Following this, a specialised moling machine, designed for laying pipes, will be employed. This technology enables us to install new sewers without having to excavate the ground between the chambers.

A 63 metre section of sewer adjacent to Conon Avenue/Teith Drive will also be replaced during this project.
