Scottish Water is investing close to a million pounds and will soon begin work to upgrade a sewer pipe which runs under the Old Course.

Work to replace approximately 200 metres of pipe running beneath the putting green and under the first tee begins at the start of November. It is expected to take around 3 months for completion.

It is vital these works are carried out as the sewer pipe is in a poor condition. Scottish Water‘s project team will deliver the work safely and with as little disruption as possible.

Please be assured that the golf course will be open for play as normal, with much of the works scheduled to take place when the course is closed on Sundays and during the regular winter Monday maintenance closures.

There will be minimal impact on golfers teeing off on the Old Course. Low noise eco-pumps will be deployed, and the majority of piling works will only be carried out on a Sunday and Monday to avoid noise and vibrations for golfers.

Safety is an absolute priority and measures will be put in place, including trackways and signage, to ensure people are left in no doubt where it is safe to walk.

Construction traffic will have its own dedicated entrance to the site which will be surrounded by hoardings to lessen the visual impact of the works on the area.

Scottish Water and its delivery partners Morrison Construction would like to thank the golfing community for their patience and understanding while these essential works are underway.
