Investment Progress Bar - Delivery Stage

Scottish Water is investing £1.2 million to replace a water main serving customers in the Hatton area, Aberdeenshire.

Work commenced in October 2022 and is expected to be completed in June 2024.

Phase 1 of this project has now been completed with Phase 2 due to begin at the end of February 2024.

The project has been developed and is being delivered by Scottish Water Alliance Partner CWA (Caledonia Water Alliance).

  • Expected completion June 2024

A trench is dug in the ground with a blue pipe running through it. Above ground is a construction vehicle.

What are we doing?

Replacing 5.8km of old 4” PVC pipe with 160mm HPPE (plastic), predominantly through arable land. The main connects from the Peterhead to Ellon trunk main, also due to be replaced by CWA under a separate project.

Why we are doing this

The existing water main is ageing, resulting in an increasing number of bursts, affecting reliability of supplies to customers. Replacing the water main will ensure we can continue to provide fresh water to the local community, far into the future.
