South Queensferry Sewer Upgrade
Shoreline Sewer
A section of pipe running beneath the beach will be replaced.
We have been carrying out an emergency repair on a burst rising sewer main in the private car park off Gote Lane in South Queensferry.
Unfortunately due to the poor condition of the pipe we will need to replace approximately 120 metres of sewer along the beachfront and Gote Lane itself.
It is a challenging repair, with the pipe situated approximately four metres underground and close to the sea wall and adjacent properties.
Gote Lane will be closed from Monday 11 November 2024 to all vehicles although pedestrian access to premises and businesses will be maintained.
We are in the process of securing a marine licence to be able to carry out the necessary investigations to confirm ground conditions along the beach.
We are anticipating the work in Gote Lane taking up to six weeks to complete. The sewer replacement along the beach may take up to three months. Local businesses will remain open as usual and pedestrian access will be maintained.
We would like to thank all those affected for their patience and understanding and understanding while we carry out this essential repair.
